چکیده

In this study, arc and friction stir hybrid welding (AFSHW) was proposed to weld aluminum-steel dissimilar metals in attempt realize high quality joining. Firstly, an interlayer produced on galvanized steel by using bypass current-metal inert gas (BC-MIG), then aluminium plate jointed via Friction lap (FSLW). The effects of tool pin length FSLW times the microstructure mechanical properties joints were fully investigated means Optical Microscopy (OM), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD), testing. results show that as increased, joint strength tended increase decrease, tensile failure partially occurred at base metal. However, with additional number FSLW, would be reduced, which attributed attenuated dislocation density strain concertation joint. research outcomes will provide a new method obtain sound Al-Fe metal joint, benefit better understanding joining mechanism.

Evaluation of microstructure and mechanical properties of friction stir welded copper / 316L stainless steel dissimilar metals

In the present research, friction stir welding (FSW) process was used for butt joining of pure copper plate to 316L stainless steel plate. Mechanical properties and microstructural characteristics of the joint were evaluated by microhardness and tensile tests as well as optical and scanning electron microscope (SEM). It was found that microstructure of the weld nugget (WN) has fine grains where...

Multi-Track Friction Stir Lap Welding of 2024 Aluminum Alloy: Processing, Microstructure and Mechanical Properties

Friction stir lap welding (FSLW) raises the possibility of fabricating high-performance aluminum components at low cost and high efficiency. In this study, we mainly applied FSLW to fabricate multi-track 2024 aluminum alloy without using tool tilt angle, which is important for obtaining defect-free joint but significantly increases equipment cost. Firstly, systematic single-track FSLW experimen...

Microstructure, Mechanical and Corrosion Properties of Friction Stir Welding High Nitrogen Martensitic Stainless Steel 30Cr15Mo1N

High nitrogen martensitic stainless steel 30Cr15Mo1N plates were successfully welded by friction stir welding (FSW) at a tool rotation speed of 300 rpm with a welding speed of 100 mm/min, using W-Re tool. The sound joint with no significant nitrogen loss was successfully produced. Microstructure, mechanical and corrosion properties of an FSW joint were investigated. The results suggest that the...
